Configuring IPv6

 

You can use these instructions to configure your system for IPv6 functions.

If you are unfamiliar with IPv6, see Internet Protocol version 6 for an overview. You must have TCP/IP configured on the system before you can configure IPv6.

You are ready to take advantage of the next-generation Internet by using IPv6 on your network. To use IPv6, you can configure it on an existing line by manually configuring interfaces, by utilizing the IPv6 Stateless Address Autoconfiguration feature, or both.

1. Hardware and software requirements
   Listed here are the hardware and software requirements for configuring i5/OS for IPv6.
2. Configuring IPv6 stateless address autoconfiguration
   To use IPv6 on your System i™ product, you can use the IPv6 stateless address autoconfiguration feature.
3. Creating a new IPv6 interface
   You can also use IPv6 by using the new wizard to manually create a new IPv6 interface.
