Creating a new IPv6 interface

You can also use IPv6 by using the new wizard to manually create a new IPv6 interface. To create a new IPv6 interface, follow these steps:

  1. In iSeries™ Navigator, expand Network > TCP/IP Configuration > IPv6.

  2. Right-click Interface, and then select New Interface.

  3. Follow the steps in the New IPv6 Interface wizard to create the new IPv6 interface. The new interface appears in the right panel when you finish the configuration.

  4. Right-click the new IPv6 interface, and then select Start.

You can also check the Start when TCP/IP is started check box in the New IPv6 Interface wizard to ensure that it starts automatically the next time that you start TCP/IP.

  5. In iSeries Navigator, select Network > TCP/IP Configuration > Utilities > Ping to test the new IPv6 interface and verify that it connects to the network.

The New Interface menu item is enabled only if you have *IOSYSCFG authority.
