Troubleshooting

Welcome to the IBM® WebSphere® Portal Express Troubleshooting guide. This guide is intended to help you solve problems without having to call IBM support. If you do have to call IBM support, this guide provides the information that you need to help your IBM service representative diagnose and resolve the problem.

Can you re-create the problem?

Yes. If you can re-create the problem, you might want to enable tracing and then re-create the problem to capture more log information. You can enable logging and tracing for software that is shipped with WebSphere Portal Express. Enabling tracing makes log output more verbose. For example, you can enable tracing within IBM WebSphere Application Server to obtain information about application servers and other processes. Because WebSphere Portal Express runs as an application server within WebSphere Application Server, you can enable tracing to help pinpoint problems that are related to the portal application server. Refer to Logging and tracing and the Message Catalog for more information. After tracing is enabled continue to the next section, Researching a problem section.

No. If you cannot re-create the problem continue to the Researching a problem section.
