Document Manager

Document Manager is where portal users work with documents, folders and views.

Use the Document Manager portlet to set up the document management environment, where portal users work with documents, folders, and views. When portal users log in to Document Manager and have been given the appropriate authority, they can perform document viewing and authoring tasks in a document library. Depending on how you have configured document management, they can also send a link to a file or folder, submit a document draft for review, and assign document and folder access. You can configure Document Manager to display an indicator for new documents, enable document conversion, and turn on active content filtering, as well as disable the browser plug-in for desktop applications, and enable the folder tree display.

Documents are stored in the document library, and the document library is stored in the content repository. During initial database configuration, plan the size and number of documents you plan to put into Document Manager. The size of the document repository must be considered when determining any spatial or performance issues.

The default working document library is called Document Manager. If you want to use a different working document library, create one. You have many configuration options available for the document libraries that you create.
