Install WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment on the deployment manager machine
IBM® WebSphere® Application Server Network Deployment on the deployment manager machine must be installed to the same product revision level as the WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment levels used on the cluster nodes and must have the same corrective service levels applied.
Installation notes:
- If you already have WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment installed in your environment, it is recommended that you still refer to the instructions in this section to ensure that you have applied any fix packs and interim fixes that are required for use with IBM WebSphere Portal Express. .
- ·If you are planning to install WebSphere Portal Express and the deployment manager on the same machine, the preferred approach is to create separate profiles for the portal server and the deployment manager. Both profiles use the same installation of WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment. This documentation does not provide detailed instructions for the scenario of installing multiple profiles on the same machine.
- If you are planning to install two separate copies of WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment on the same machine for the deployment manager and WebSphere Portal Express on the same machine, review the coexistence requirements in the WebSphere Application Server documentation before installing these products:

Also be aware that the WebSphere Portal Express installation automatically installs WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment.
WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment is automatically installed as part of the WebSphere Portal Express installation. However, it is recommended that you install WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment on a dedicated system to serve as the deployment manager machine.
