Domino Document Manager

The Domino Document Manager (formerly Domino.Doc) portlet allows the user to perform document and file management.

For information about working with the Domino Document Manager portlet, see the Help that is available from the portlet title bar.

Use the Domino Document Manager portlet

The Domino Document Manager portlet displays information stored in a Notes database on an IBM® Lotus® Domino® server that is set up to work with WebSphere Portal Express.

The Notes database that Domino Document Manager uses as its source is sometimes called a library database.

Do not add more than one instance of the portlet to a page.

If you are an administrator, you see the command Edit Shared Settings instead of Personalize for Domino Document Manager portlet instances. This command works the same as Personalize except that your changes apply to all users of the instance of the portlet whose settings you are editing, up until the time a user decides to personalize the portlet. Use caution when editing shared settings. For more information, see Configuration levels for portlets.

Portlet security

Users must have the appropriate access to both the Domino Document Manager server that has been set up for use with Collaborative Services and the Domino Document Manager library database.

Test assumptions

This portlet has been tested on and is compatible with all supported WebSphere Portal Express platforms, as listed in Supported hardware and software.

Set up the portlet

This portlet is installed automatically as part of the Domino and Extended Products Portlets, but is not provided on the Domino Integration page. You must add the portlet to any page where you want it to appear. For more information, see Editing layout and content in Customizing pages.

Before you configure the portlet, make sure your WebSphere Portal Express environment meets the following client and server requirements.

Client requirements

The portlet supports browsers and devices capable of rendering HTML markup. The following table provides detailed information.

Minimum requirements for HTML
Markup level HTML 4.01 Transitional
Java applet None
JavaScript 1.30
<iframe> Yes
Style sheets Portal styles only
Software

  • The Lotus Notes View and Lotus Document Viewer portlets are compatible with the specific Web browser software releases listed in Supported hardware and software in the Information center. In the requirements for the relevant version of WebSphere Portal Express, see the section on supported Web browsers.

  • The Domino Web Access portlet is compatible with the specific Web browser software releases listed in Supported hardware and software in the Information center, as long as those releases are also supported by the release of Domino Web Access running on the Lotus Domino server configured as the data source for the portlet. For information on supported browsers for Domino Web Access, see the release notes for the relevant Domino Web Access release.

  • The Domino Document Manager portlet is compatible with the specific Web browser software releases listed in Supported hardware and software in the Information center, as long as those releases are also supported by the release of Lotus Domino Document Manager software running on the Lotus Domino server configured as the data source for the portlet. For information on supported browsers for Lotus Domino Document Manager, see the release notes for the relevant Domino Document Manager release.

Accessibility Yes

Awareness in this portlet may be supported in a slightly different set of browsers and client platforms than listed in the table above, because the portlet depends upon the STLinks applet on the Lotus Sametime server. For more information, see People Finder portlet, people awareness, and Person menu problems in Troubleshooting Domino and Extended Products Portlets.

Server requirements

The Domino Document Manager portlet requires access to a Lotus Domino messaging and application server running Domino Document Manager, with HTTP and Java support enabled. The Lotus Domino server hosts the Domino Document Manager (Notes database) information source.

The portlet is compatible with the specific releases of Lotus Domino server software listed in Supported hardware and software. Refer to the requirements for the relevant release of WebSphere Portal Express, and then see the Software for collaboration section.

The portlet is compatible with the following versions of Lotus Domino Document Manager software:

Because the portlet is compatible with multiple releases, this topic contains no step-by-step procedures for installation. Instead, see the page on Lotus Domino Document Manager on the Lotus Documentation Web site to locate the appropriate installation information for the release of Lotus Domino Document Manager you intend to install on the source server for your portlet. For example, see the Document Manager 7.0 Installation Guide, which is viewable online at the site.

If you want users of the portlet to be able to select the source Notes database file name from a drop-down list, the Lotus Domino server must have DIIOP support enabled, and on the Server document Internet Protocols - HTTP tab, the option "Allow HTTP clients to browse databases" must be set to Yes. For more information, see Starting the DIIOP and HTTP tasks automatically on the Lotus Domino server and Giving users browser access to Notes-based portlets.

If you do not choose to enable DIIOP support, you can specify a default database file name in the portlet parameter NotesDatabase, and users of the portlet can type over that filename if necessary to specify the information source.

Deployment/Installation

The Domino Document Manager portlet is provided by the portlet application domdoc.war.

This portlet is not supported as a remote WSRP service.
