Link a category

If you are creating or updating a sales catalog, you might want to link a category between the master catalog and the sales catalog. For example, a Winter Coats category in the master catalog could be linked with the Coats category in the Winter sales catalog. Linking a category creates a reference to that category in the catalog to which it was linked. All subcategories and catalog entries in the category are also linked.

Procedure

  1. Open the WebSphere Commerce Accelerator.

  2. Open the Sales Catalogs page: Select Sales Catalogs.

    • Click Merchandise > Sales Catalogs

    • Click Sales Catalogs > Sales Catalogs

  3. From the list of available sales catalogs, select a catalog in which to link a category and click Design.

  4. From the Target Catalog page, the category tree for the selected sales catalog displays.

  5. From the Source Catalog page, click for a list of available catalogs. Select a sales catalog and click Display Category Tree.

  6. In the target category tree, highlight the parent target category. This is the category under which the subcategory will be linked.

  7. In the source category tree, highlight the category to be linked and click Link to Target Category.

  8. A confirmation message will be displayed once the category has been linked to the sales catalog. In the category tree, the link icon ( ) is displayed next to the category. Click OK.
