Delete a category

You cannot delete a category if there are any associated catalog entries.

Restriction: In an extended site scenario, if manufacturers attempt to delete a category which contains reseller subcategories or products, then the category cannot be deleted since it still contains catalog assets. As reseller subcategories and products are only visible to the reseller, manufacturers may not realize that the category to be deleted is not empty. As a resolution, manufacturers should broadcast a message to all resellers, informing them of the upcoming category deletion and requesting that any catalog assets be moved out of this category.


Procedure

  1. Open the WebSphere Commerce Accelerator.

  2. Open the category tree for the master catalog:

    • Click Merchandise > Catalog Management

    • Click Products > Catalog Management

  3. Highlight the category that to delete and click Delete Category.

  4. The category is removed from the catalog.


What to do next

If the changes to the catalog data do not display in the store, the Site Administrator might need to remove the currently cached JSP pages.
