Configure e-mail activities

In this section we will act as the Site Administrator and configure WebSphere Commerce to send out e-mail messages. The Site Administrator usually chooses an off-peak hour to send out e-mail every day. For our purposes, we will configure e-mail to be sent out 10 to 15 minutes from now so we can actually see this process happen. This configuration is usually done once and seldom changed.


Procedure

  1. Log in to WebSphere Administration Console.

  2. Select the ConsumerDirect store and click OK.

  3. Select Configuration > Email Activities.

  4. Type the following values:

    Name

    Outbound Email Activity

    Description

    Outbound Email Activity

    Host

    wc60

    E-mail address

    info@ConsumerDirect.com

    Account

    wcsadmin

    Commerce Host

    localhost

    Time to start delivery

    Set this to 10 or 15 minutes in the future.

    You must be able to finish step 7 by the time this time elapses.

  5. Click the Inbound Account tab

  6. Enter the following values:

    Name

    Inbound Email Activity

    Description

    Inbound Email Activity

    Host

    wc60

    E-mail address

    info@ConsumerDirect.com

    Account

    wcsadmin

    Password

    wcsadmin1

    Commerce Host

    localhost

    Select

    Retry soft bounces from e-mail activities

    Interval

    1:00

  7. Click OK.
