Complete a custom installation using the Installation wizard

Overview

Before beginning...

Do not exit the launch pad while the installation wizard is running.

The installation wizard copies a number of large files from the DVD when it is started. The installation wizard will take a few moments to start. Do not start another instance of the WebSphere Commerce installation wizard while one is already running. If you exit the second occurrence of the wizard, the first installation will fail.

If at any point during the installation, the text in the installation wizard appears to be cut off or missing, resize the wizard so that you can read all of the text on the wizard.

Procedure

  1. Log onto the system...

    • As the root user: su - root
    • As a user with Administrative authority.

  2. For *nix, export the display to gain access to the X server.

  3. Make sure /opt and /tmp have enough space. Minimum of 3GB for /opt. In v6, installer sometimes did not allow you to install to a file system other than /opt, and if /opt was undersized in the root partition you could have disk space issues later on.

  4. Insert the WebSphere Commerce DVD into the DVD-ROM drive.

  5. Mount the DVD-ROM drive.

For Linux on iSeries or Linux on zSeries, switch directories to the directory containing the contents of the WebSphere Commerce DVD. The contents of this DVD and other DVDs should have already been transferred to the Linux system.

  6. The installation can be started using the launch pad or from a command prompt.

To install using the WebSphere Commerce launch pad,

    1. Run...

      mount_point/setup.sh

When launching setup.sh, ensure the current directory is not mount_point, otherwise the DVD drive could be locked when change media. This applies to eImages as well.

For Windows, the launch pad may take 3 minutes or longer to start.

If the launch pad does not start automatically after you insert the DVD-ROM, in Windows Explorer, browse the DVD-ROM drive containing the WebSphere Commerce DVD, and double-click autorun.exe.

    2. The WebSphere Commerce launch pad starts.

Select the language for the launch pad and click OK to continue.

    3. The launch pad displays the following options...

      1. Prerequisites
      2. Documentation
      3. Install Product
      4. Install Product on IBM i
      5. Support Assistant
      6. Exit

    4. Click Install Product

To install using a command prompt...

    1. Run...

      drive:/path/setup.exe

...where different OS's have the following locations...

      • mount_point/setup_aix
      • mount_point/setup_solaris
      • mount_point/setup_linux (Linux on System x)
      • ./setup_ppclinux (Linux on IBM i)
      • mount_point/setup_ppclinux (Linux on System p)
      • ./setup_zlinux (Linux on System z)

      For IBM i

      drive:\iSeriesServer.bat

    2. Select the installation language in the language selection panel, and click OK.

The software will be installed in this language, regardless of the language settings of the system. Do not select a language not supported by the system on which you are performing the installation.

    3. For IBM i Logon panel, type the System Name, User Profile, and Password into the respective fields. Click Next.
