Add a defining attribute value

Define attribute values are used to resolve SKUs from a product. An example of defining attribute values is S, M, L, and XL for a defining attribute of size. Each size of a product would have a different SKU.

To add a value to your defining attribute:

1. Open the WebSphere Commerce Accelerator.

2. From the Merchandise menu, click Find Catalog Entries.
   
   

   From the Products menu, click Find Catalog Entries.
   The Catalog Entry Search page displays. If you do not see this menu, then your logon ID does not have the appropriate authority to perform this task. Contact your Site Administrator.

3. Find the product.

4. Select a field in the product row, and from the Actions menu, click Defining Attributes. A list of available defining attributes for the product displays.

5. Create a new defining attribute or select an existing one by selecting the check box to the left of the attribute you want to work with and click Change.

6. In the lower half of the New or Change Attribute page, click Add value. Add the following information:

   • In the Value field, type a value which corresponds to your attribute value name. For example, if the name of your attribute value is color, then type the name of a color, such as yellow or red. The attribute value name must be in your store's default language.

   • In the Image (pathname), type the full image path to the attribute value image. This field is optional.

7. Click Add.

8. Repeat steps 6 and 7 for each attribute value you want to create.

9. The New or Change Attribute page now displays a table containing the attribute value's Reference Value in your store's default language, the Value in your selected language, the Image (pathname), and the Sequence number for each attribute value. Click OK to save the attribute value.

Notes:

• To hide the attribute values, click the

  icon next to the attribute name. When the attribute values are hidden, the icon changes to . Click the icon again to display the attribute values.

• You must first create attributes and attribute values in the store's default language, followed by any supported languages.

• Each defining attribute must have at least one value associated with it.

• If the changes to the catalog data do not display in the store, the Site Administrator may need to remove the currently cached JSP pages.
