Creating a buy catalog entry X, get catalog entry Y free promotion
This promotion type gives a free catalog entry when an order includes some other specified catalog entry.
- Open the Promotions tool.
- From the toolbar, click
New. The New Promotion page displays.
- In the Promotion Properties section, define general information about the promotion:
- Expand the Purchase Condition and Reward section:
- In the Target catalog entry field, enter the catalog entry code that a customer must have in their order to qualify for the reward. You can either enter the catalog entry code and click
Find and Add, or click the
Show utilities view icon to open the utilities view, and then search or browse for the appropriate catalog entry. The code is added under the Catalog entry column. This catalog entry could be a SKU, or a kit. You can set a catalog entry to be excluded from a promotion.
- In the Minimum purchase field, enter the minimum number of the selected catalog entries that the order must meet or exceed before the purchase qualifies for the promotion.
- In the Free gift catalog entry field, enter the catalog entry code that you want to give to qualifying customers. You can either enter the code, or click the Show utilities view icon to open the utilities view, and then search or browse for the appropriate catalog entry. This catalog entry could be a SKU, product, or kit.
- In the Quantity to give for free field, enter the number of gift catalog entries that are awarded to qualifying purchases.
- Expand the Redemption Limits section. The redemption limit defines the number of times that the promotion can be used, depending on the option you select.
- Expand the Schedule section. Set the promotion dates:
Option Description Dates promotion is available Select either Always in effect, or During a specified period, then enter the Start Date and End Date of the promotion. The date and time are based on the current system time for the machine where WebSphere Commerce Server is installed.
Days promotion is available Select either Every day of the week, or Selected days of the week, then select the individual days when the promotion is applicable. Time of day promotion is available Select either All day, or During a specified time, then enter the Start Time and End Time of the promotion. The date and time are based on the current system time for the machine where WebSphere Commerce Server is installed.
- Optional: Expand the Target Customer Segment section. Using the Customer Segments field, select the customer segment to which a customer must belong in order to qualify for the promotion. You can either enter the name of the customer segment and click
Find and Add, or click the Show utilities view icon to open the utilities view, and then search or browse for the appropriate customer segment.
- Optional: Expand the Miscellaneous section.
- Target sales volume
Use this field to record the target sales objective for the promotion. This information is used to record the goal of the promotion.
- Click
Save to save the promotion, or click Save and Close to close the promotion editor, and return to the updated Promotions List. The promotion is displayed in the Promotions List, and set as inactive.
