Objective
To allow resellers to connect to a number of distributors to purchase products
Description
Resellers can connect directly to their distributors to check price and availability information, and to create orders on the distributor sites.
Features
Resellers can perform the following actions:
- Find products of interest in different ways.
- Add the desired products to a shopping cart
- Use a requisition list to manage the products that they order frequently. Note that in the Commerce Plaza store model, requisition lists are referred to as favorites lists.
- Request real-time price and availability quotes from distributors
- Select which items and quantities in the quotes should be sourced from specific distributors
- Save shopping carts, quotes, and selections for use at a later date
- Transfer shopping carts to distributor sites for processing
- View status of transferred shopping carts
Customization
May transfer fully formed orders rather than just shopping carts to distributors.
The infrastructure provided by the Commerce Plaza can also be used to provide a lead management solution for dealers. In such a solution, instead of resellers shopping on the site, it will be end customers, and instead of being transferred to distributors, they will be transferred to dealers. There are two customizations that are recommended to implement this solution. First, unless the manufacturer would like to provide hosting capability to end customers, they should disable the "Create a hosted store", "Hosted store administration", and "My organization and approvals" menu items. Second, a dealer locator system may be added into the flow to allow the end customer to find and select the dealer they would like to purchase from.
