Start and stop the WebSphere Commerce Information Center

To access the information center for your WebSphere Commerce environment, ensure the help server is active.

To start or stop the WebSphere Commerce Information Center:

  1. Do one of the following tasks:

    • AIX|Linux|Solaris|Using the non-root user, start a command line session.

    • Windows: Start a command prompt session.

    • I5/OS|Start a QShell session.

  2. Do one of the following tasks:

    • To start the WebSphere Commerce Information Center, issue one of the following commands:

      where port is an optional parameter. If you do not specify the port number, the WebSphere Commerce Information Center uses port 8001.

      Windows:

      The WebSphere Commerce Information Center can also be started and stopped from the Services panel by starting or stopping the following service: IBM WC 6.0 Help Server

      If you start the WebSphere Commerce Information Center from the Services panel, you cannot change the port the WebSphere Commerce Information Center uses. The WebSphere Commerce Information Center will use port 8001.

    • To stop the WebSphere Commerce Information Center, issue one of the following commands:



Windows:

The IBM WC 6.0 Help Server service uses port 8001 and the port cannot be changed. If you want to use a different port for the WebSphere Commerce Information Center, start the information center using the startHelp utility.

The help system starts automatically in the development environment. By default Rational Application Developer runs the Help Server on a random port. To enable Help to be accessed from the WebSphere Commerce Accelerator, Organization Administration Console, or the Administration Console, set the port that the Help Server uses to 8001, by doing the following:

  1. Select Window > Preferences > Help > Help Server.

  2. In the Port for the server to listen on field type 8001. Click Apply.

  3. Restart Rational Application Developer.
