Change the port used for context-sensitive help in the WebSphere Commerce tools

If you want to use a port, other than 8001, for the help server, review these instructions to successfully change the port within the Configuration Manager.

This topic does not apply to WebSphere Commerce Developer. You must set the port for the information center to 8001 in WebSphere Commerce Developer for context-sensitive help to work in the WebSphere Commerce tools when running a WebSphere Commerce test environment.

If you specify a port other than 8001 for the WebSphere Commerce Information Center, change the port used for context-sensitive help in the WebSphere Commerce tools in Configuration Manager. If the port used for context-sensitive help in the WebSphere Commerce tools does not match the port number on which you started the information center, you will not be able to access context-sensitive help in the WebSphere Commerce tools, such as the WebSphere Commerce Accelerator.

Windows:

The IBM WC 6.0 Help Server service uses port 8001 and the port cannot be changed. If you want to use a different port for the WebSphere Commerce Information Center, start the information center using the startHelp utility.

To change the port used for context-sensitive help in the WebSphere Commerce tools:

  1. Stop WebSphere Commerce.

  2. Open Configuration Manager.

  3. In Configuration Manager, under WebSphere Commerce, expand hostname > Commerce > Instance List >instance > Instance Properties.

  4. Click WebSphere.

  5. In the Help Server Port Number field, enter the port number you used when starting the information center.

  6. Click Apply.

  7. Close Configuration Manager.

  8. Start WebSphere Commerce.
