Migrate WebSphere Commerce in a clustered environment
Review this information for available options available to migrate your WebSphere Commerce clustered environment.
There are three options available to users who want to migrate an existing WebSphere Commerce application in a clustered environment, as recommended by WAS:
- Migrate the network deployment manager with all nodes in the cell. This option requires the complete uninstallation of the existing WAS. Complete the following steps:
- Run WASPreUpgrade on the existing WAS configuration.
- Uninstall the existing version of WAS.
- Install the new version of WAS.
- Run WASPostUpgrade on the new version.
- Migrate the network deployment manager only, and migrating the nodes manually. This option disables the existing network manager and node agents. Complete the following steps:
- Migrate the deployment manager using WAS Migration Wizard. This step destroys the existing cell.
- If IBM HTTP server is used, migrate the HTTP plug-in on all HTTP server nodes.
- Migrate the nodes manually.
- Create a new parallel network deployment manager, migrating a stand-alone node and then building a cluster. This option maintains the existing cell largely unchanged. Complete the following steps:
- Create a new (parallel) WAS Version 6.0 deployment manager.
- Migrate the HTTP server plug-in on the selected HTTP server nodes, if IBM HTTP server is used. Migrate only those HTTP servers that are handling traffic destined for WebSphere Commerce v6.
- Remove the node from the V5.x deployment manager, upgrade the node to v6, and then add it to the V6 deployment manager.
This option imposes the least risk and provides the highest availability to a production site. WebSphere Commerce recommends that customers with clusters use this option. For more information on this migration option, refer to the following Web page:
