How do I connect to an ECM server?

After adding the Linked Library widget to the community, create a connection to an Enterprise Content Management (ECM) server.

You must be logged in as a community owner. You must also have access to the library on the ECM server.

To use linked libraries, we must log in to both IBM Connections and the ECM server. When the environment uses single sign-on, logging in to IBM Connections also logs you in to the ECM server. If the environment does not use single sign-on, we must log in to the ECM server separately. IBM Connections prompts you to log in to the ECM server when we open a community with a linked library. If we are prompted to log in to the ECM server and do not know an appropriate user name and password, ask the administrator to provide you with one.

To create a connection between the linked library and an ECM server.

  1. From the Linked Library widget, click Connect to Get Started. Alternatively, click the Actions icon for the widget and select Edit.

  2. In the Server field, enter the URL address of the ECM server. For example http://my.ecm.server:80.

  3. Log in to the ECM server.

    • If the deployment of Connections uses single sign-on, complete one of the following actions:

      Your administrator can set a parameter called useSSO in the library configuration file to true or false. The value of the parameter determines the option displayed to you in the user interface.

      • When useSSO is set to false: Leave the Log in with my current credentials check box selected and click Log In to log in with the Connections user name and password. If the environment does not use single sign-on, we are prompted for the name and password of a user with access to the ECM server.

      • When useSSO is set to true: Click Open.

    • If the deployment does not use single sign-on, clear the Log in with my current credentials check box. Enter the user name and password of a user with access to the ECM server, and then click Log In.

  4. Select a library from the list. We can change this selection later.

  5. Click the Customize tab to customize the following settings for the linked library:

    • Change the name of the Linked Library widget that displays in the community by entering a name in the Name field.

    • Select a column and sort order to apply. Columns and sort order options are specified on the ECM server. Your selection determines how the folders and files are sorted in the linked library.

  6. Click Save and Close to save your changes and return to the community.


Results

A link to the library now displays in the Linked Library widget. Click the link to start working with files in the library.
