Delete a redundant core group policy

If there is a core group policy associated with a cluster, but that is not associated with any messaging engine in the cluster, and we are using messaging engine policy assistance, we can identify and delete that policy.

Use this procedure when we are creating or maintaining a cluster bus member and messaging engine policy assistance is enabled, but there are warning messages that a core group policy is redundant. This message indicates that the core group policy is associated with a cluster through its match criteria, but it is not associated with any messaging engine that is currently in the cluster.

When we use messaging engine policy assistance, the required associations are created automatically and we do not have to create or manage core group policies directly. A redundant core group policy might occur if messaging engine policy assistance is disabled and you remove a messaging engine without deleting its associated core group policy, or create a core group policy that is not associated with a messaging engine.

Tasks

  1. In the navigation pane, click Service integration -> Buses -> bus_name -> [Topology] Bus members -> bus_member_name. If messaging engine policy assistance is enabled, the bus member detail panel is displayed. If messaging engine policy assistance is not enabled, the messaging engine collection panel is displayed.

  2. If messaging engine policy assistance is not enabled, click Enable policy assistance and follow the instructions on the wizard.

  3. In the content pane, under Additional properties, click Redundant core group policies. A list of redundant core group policies and details of the current core group policy settings is displayed.

  4. Select the policies we want to delete, then click Delete.

The selected core group policies are deleted.
