Creating and installing a CIP

A customized installation package (CIP) is a single product installation image that can include one or more maintenance packages, configuration scripts, and other files. Using the IBM® Installation Factory for WebSphere® Extended Deployment, specify the properties of a CIP in the build definition file, which is then used to generate the customized package.

Before you begin

You must complete the following steps before you can create and install a CIP:

  1. Download the IBM Installation Factory for WebSphere Application Server from the Installation Factory for WebSphere Application Server Web site.

  2. Download the IBM Installation Factory for WebSphere Extended Deployment. See the Installation Factory for WebSphere Extended Deployment Web site for more information.
