Copy document libraries

Procedure

Perform the following steps to copy a document library:

  1. From the Manage Document Libraries page, select the document library that you want to copy.

  2. Click the copy document library icon.

  3. Type the name of the library to be created by the copy process.

  4. Select one of the following options:

    • Copy document library settings only
    • Copy document library settings and folders
    • Copy document library settings, folders, and documents

  5. Click OK to start the copy process, or click Cancel to return to the Manage Document Libraries page without copying.

When using the Copy document library settings, folders, and documents option, be aware that:

  • This option can take several minutes to complete if the selected library contains a large number of documents.

  • Document drafts will not be copied to the new document library.

  • Users will not be allowed to write to the library while the copy is processing.

The following settings are copied to the new library:

  • Document library description
  • versioning settings
  • workflow settings
  • selected approvers
  • document language
  • document locking settings

The contents that can be copied to the new library include all folders and documents of the existing document library. Views cannot be copied.
