Configure for LDAP with realm support

After setting up your LDAP server, configure it to work with WebSphere Portal.

The topics listed under Next steps will configure the WebSphere Application Server to access the LDAP server through the Member Manager. In this configuration, one or more user registries and, therefore one or more "realms", can be created.

A "realm" is a concept that denotes a specific body of users accessing a specific portal configuration. Refer to Multiple virtual portals for information about creating separate, customizable portals for different groups of users within an organization.

The recommended configuration is for LDAP with realm support, which will allow you to create virtual portals in the future.

Select the LDAP server you are using for specific instructions for customizing the configuration properties file and running configuration tasks for each type of supported LDAP server.
