Linking the Web Pages in a Site
In traditional web sites, the Site Framework is an artificial concept based on the links between the pages of a site. In an IWWCM environment, the Site Framework is defined first, and the links between the pages are generated automatically.
The Site Framework
The different sections of a web site are grouped under different Site Areas. Content Items are grouped under different Site Areas. The relationships between Authoring Templates (and therefore Content) and Presentation Templates are built in Sites and Site Areas. Components specific to a particular Site Area or Site are also stored in Site Areas and Site items.
Navigators and Menus
The links between the different pages in a site can be generated automatically using Navigator and Menu Components.
- Navigators generate links to other pages based on the current Content's location within the Site Framework.
- Menus generate links based on different search parameters.
Profiling
Menus can also be based on Categories and Keywords that Content items are profiled with.
- Categories are chosen from a pre-defined list.
- Content Creators can enter any keywords they like to profile Content items.
