Configuring WebSphere Portal server connections
Rational® tools supports portal and portlet projects that target WebSphere® Portal V6.0, or later.
You can configure WebSphere Portal Server for both local and remote testing and debugging. To perform these operations install the full server version of WebSphere Portal V6.0, or later on your local computer. See Defining local servers for more information.
For all server operations, be sure you follow the steps for your portal or portlets' target server versions. For more information see the following topics:
- Defining WebSphere Portal Server
Whether you plan to use your local machine or a remote server for testing and debugging, you can use the WebSphere Portal V6.0 or V6.1 Server node in the New Servers wizard to set up connections to either of the test environment.- Associating servers with projects
- Defining Web browsers and device emulators
You can display your project in a Web browser or in a device emulator. Device emulators are programs that mimic devices, such as cell phones or PDA devices.- Restoring original artifacts
To clean up your portal project, use the Restore Original Artifacts option. This option replaces the wps.ear file containing portal payloads such as themes, skins, shipped with the server, with customized artifacts of a portal project.
