Configure Managed File Transfer

We can configure the features of Managed File Transfer after installation.

  • MFT configuration options on Multiplatforms
Managed File Transfer provides a set of properties files that contain key information about your setup and are required for operation. These properties files are in the configuration directory that you defined when you installed the product.
  • MFT configuration options on z/OS
The Managed File Transfer configuration options on z/OS are the same as the options for distributed platforms.
  • Use Managed File Transfer for z/OS
Use this topic to help we use Managed File Transfer on the IBM MQ for z/OS system.
  • Configure the Redistributable Managed File Transfer Agent
We can configure the Redistributable Managed File Transfer Agent to connect to an existing IBM MQ infrastructure and enable users to transfer files without needing to install IBM MQ to get the Managed File Transfer functionality.
  • Create an MFT Agent or Logger command data set
We can create a PDSE data set of commands from the Managed File Transfer command template data set for a specific Managed File Transfer Agent or Managed File Transfer Logger for a specific coordination.
  • Configure Managed File Transfer for z/OS
Managed File Transfer for z/OS requires customization to enable the component to operate correctly.
  • Configure MFT on IBM i
To start using Managed File Transfer after you have installed it, we must complete some configuration for the coordination queue manager and agent.
  • Configure MFT for first use
We must perform some configuration tasks for Managed File Transfer agents and queue managers once, the first time we want to use them.
  • Configure an MFT logger
When Managed File Transfer transfers files, it publishes information about its actions to a topic on the coordination queue manager. The database logger is an optional component of Managed File Transfer used to copy this information into a database for analysis and auditing purposes.
  • Configure the Connect:Direct bridge
Configure the Connect:Direct bridge to transfer files between a Managed File Transfer network and a Connect:Direct network. The components of the Connect:Direct bridge are a Connect:Direct node and a Managed File Transfer agent that is dedicated to communicating with that node. This agent is referred to as the Connect:Direct bridge agent.
  • Configure MFT agents with MSCS
Managed File Transfer (MFT) agent Microsoft Cluster Service (MSCS) setup is supported, if the platform is one supported by MFT and running one of the versions of Windows.
  • Highly available agents in Managed File Transfer
We can configure standard or bridge agents in MFT to run in a high availability (HA) configuration. A pair of agent instances with identical configurations are involved in the HA setup, where one instance is running on one machine while another instance is running on a different machine. Both instances are configured to connect to the same agent queue manager.
