Use the Confluence connector installation wizard 

Install the IBM Connections Connector for Confluence to bring wiki capabilities and collaboration functionality to your communities. You must run the installer on the server hosting the Communities application.


Before starting


If you are installing the Confluence connector as a non-root user, first edit the install.ini file as follows:

  1. Open the install.ini file from the following location:

    • AIX : <IBM Connections set-up directory>/IM/aix/install.ini

    • Linux™: <IBM Connections set-up directory>/IM/linux/install.ini

        Note: Linux on system Z: <IBM Connections set-up directory>/IM/zlinux/install.ini

    • Microsoft™ Windows™: <IBM Connections set-up directory>\IM\windows\install.ini

  2. In the second line of the file, change admin to nonadmin.

  3. Save your changes and close the file.

Procedure

  1. Download the IBM Connections Connector for Confluence from the IBM Connections catalog, which you can access from the following web site:

  2. From the Connector Install Directory, open the confluence directory, and run the executable file to launch the installation wizard for your deployment:

    • AIX: 

        ./install.sh

    • Linux or Linux on System z : 

        ./install.sh

    • Microsoft Windows: 

        install.bat

  3. In the Welcome panel, click Next to continue.

  4. Review and accept the license agreement by selecting I accept the terms in the license agreement.

  5. Click Next.

  6. In the Connector Configuration Settings panel, enter the following information to configure the connector:
    Option Description
    Confluence server host name Host name of the Confluence server.

    For example: confluence.example.com

    Confluence server port Port to connect to the Confluence application.

    For example: 9080

    Confluence server SSL port Port to connect to the Confluence application over SSL. If SSL is not configured, then leave this field blank.

    For example: 9443

    Confluence username attribute The LDAP attribute used as the login ID for the Confluence server. This specifies that a user's email address is the login ID for the Confluence server. When performing member synchronization between Communities and Confluence, the plug-in performs an LDAP lookup to get the LDAP attribute specified in the username attribute to add or remove users on the Confluence server identified by the username attribute.

    For example: mail

    Confluence server base URI Confirm that the baseUri of the Confluence server is "/confluence", that is, http://www.example.com/confluence. If not, remove /confluence so that the field is empty, which would mean that the URL to the Confluence server is http://www.example.com.
    Confluence API base URI This should remain unchanged.
    J2C authentication user name Name of the user that will manage the Confluence Wiki.

    For example: confadmin

    J2C authentication password Password of the J2C authentication user.
    LDAP directory host name Host name of the LDAP server shared by the Confluence and IBM Connections servers.

    For example: ldap.example.com

    LDAP Directory Port Port used to connect to the LDAP server.

    For example: 389

    LDAP bind user authentication alias The authentication alias created for the LDAP Bind User in the Set up Authentication Aliases section of the pre-installation tasks. The node name is prepended to the alias name in the IBM WAS administration console. If your LDAP server does not require a bind user, leave the ldapBindEntry value blank.

    For example: WasNode01/ldapBind


  7. Click Next to continue.

  8. In the Connector Install Destination panel, enter information in the following fields:
    Option Description
    IBM Connections install home directory The directory where IBM Connections is installed.

    For example: C:\IBM\LotusConnections

    Connector libraries install location Specify the WEB-INF\lib directory for the Communities application as the location where the connector libraries will be installed.

    For example: <WAS_HOME>\profiles\<PROFILE_NAME>\installedApps\<CELL_NAME>\Communities.ear\comm.web.war\WEB-INF\lib where:

    • <WAS_HOME> is the directory where WAS is installed.

    • <PROFILE_NAME> is the name of the WAS profile where the Communities application is installed.

    • <CELL_NAME> is the name of the WAS cell where the Communities application is installed.

    Connector configuration install location Specify the LotusConnections-config directory at the WAS cell level as the location to install the connector configuration files.

    For example: <WAS_HOME>\profiles\<PROFILE_NAME>\config\cells\<CELL_NAME>\LotusConnections-config where:

    • <WAS_HOME> is the directory where WAS is installed

    • <PROFILE_NAME> is the name of the WAS profile where the Communities application is installed

    • <CELL_NAME> is the name of the WAS cell where the Communities application is installed


  9. Click Next to continue.

  10. Review the summary information that you have entered. To make changes, click Back. To finalize the installation, click Next.

  11. Review the result of the installation, and click Finish to complete the installation wizard.

  12. Restart the WAS.


What to do next


After installing the Confluence connector, you might want to enable trusted feeds from the Confluence server to Communities. For more information, see Configure the AJAX proxy for a specific application.
