Install the Confluence connector from a console 

Install the IBM Connections Connector for Confluence from a non-graphical console interface.


Before starting

If you are installing the Confluence connector as a non-root user, edit the silent-install.ini file before installing the connector.

  1. Open the silent-install.ini file from one of the following directories:

    • AIX : <IBM Connections set-up directory>/IM/aix/silent-install.ini

    • Linux™: <IBM Connections set-up directory>/IM/linux/silent-install.ini

        Note: Linux on system Z: <IBM Connections set-up directory>/IM/zlinux/silent-install.ini

    • Microsoft™ Windows™: <IBM Connections set-up directory>\IM\windows\silent-install.ini

  2. Edit the content of the file to look like the following:

      -accessRights
      nonadmin
      -vm
      jre_5.0.3.sr8a_20080811b/jre/bin/java
      -input
      @osgi.install.area/install.xml
      -vmargs
      -Xquickstart
      -Xgcpolicy:gencon

  3. Save your changes and close the file.

About this task

The console interface provides the same options as the graphical installation wizard, except in text form.


Procedure

To install the Confluence connector from a console...

  1. Generate your own response file as follows.

    • AIX, Linux, and Linux on System z :

      1. Ensure that the following directory is writable.\LC_Connectors_Confluence_Install_IM\IM\<linux|aix|zlinux>\skip

      2. Enter the following command to start the recording:

          ./generate_install_responsefile.sh

    • Microsoft Windows:

      1. Ensure that the following directory is writable. \LC_Connectors_Confluence_Install_IM\IM\windows\skip

      2. Enter the following command to start the recording:

          generate_install_responsefile.bat

      Notes:

      • If your skip directory is not writable, edit the following file to specify your skip directory.

        • AIX, Linux, and Linux on System z:

            generate_install_responsefile.sh

        • Microsoft Windows:

            generate_install_responsefile.bat

      • You can edit the generate_install_responsefile.sh file to specify your response file name and path.

  2. Populate the fields in the panels in the same way as when installing the Confluence connector using the installation wizard. For more information about the fields that display in the panel, see Use the Confluence connector installation wizard. After the summary panel displays, click Install.

      The installer saves the installation data to the skip directory without actually installing the product.

  3. Click Finish and close the installer.

      The response file is then generated.

  4. Start the silent install.

    1. Change to one of the following directories.

      1. AIX, Linux, and Linux on System z:\LC_Connectors_Confluence_Install_IM\IM\<linux|aix|zlinux>

      2. Microsoft Windows:\LC_Connectors_Confluence_Install_IM\IM\windows

    2. Enter one of the following commands to install the connector.

      • AIX, Linux, and Linux on System z:

          ./install.silent.sh

      • Microsoft Windows:

          install.silent.bat

      Notes:

      1. If you want to use your response file, you can edit the install.silent.sh or install.silent.bat file as appropriate.

      2. To change the silent install log directory, you can edit the lc_install.ini file.
