Dynamic discovery is the process of automatically attaching to agents on each computer involved in a distributed application system, so that you do not have to attach to each one manually. You simply attach to the first agent on the computer where testing originates, and the data collection infrastructure finds and communicates with the agents installed on any server the application transaction visits.

This feature works only if the default Agent Controller port, 10002, is used. It will not work through firewalls. If set up incorrectly, profiling will appear to be running normally, and the Test connection button will report success, but the Agent Controller will be unable to send data, and thus no data will be collected from the incorrectly configured host.
