Portlet
A portlet is an individual application that displays content on a portal page.
To a user, a portlet is a single window or panel on the portal page that provides information or Web application functionality. To a developer, portlets are Java-based pluggable modules that can access content from a source such as another Web site, an XML feed, or a database, and display this content to the user as part of the portal page.
