Show MeWeb activities display marketing content targeted to specific customer segments. Creating these activities ensures that brand and promotional messages are seen by the desired audiences.

Before you beginBefore you can create a Web activity, you must have the following defined for your store:

Depending on the type of activity that you are creating, you might also need the following:

About this taskTo create a Web activity:

  1. Open the Marketing tool.

  2. From the toolbar, click the arrow on the right side of

New; then select Web Activity. The New Activity from template dialog displays.

  3. Select the template upon which to base your new activity. There are 4 options:

    Option Description
Category Recommendation Displays a recommended category to the target customers.
Content Recommendation Displays content to the target customers.
Merchandising Association Recommendation Displays a predefined merchandising association to the target customers.
Product Recommendation Displays a recommended product to the target customers.
The Activity builder displays at the top of the screen, with the Activity properties panel beneath it.

  4. In the properties dialog, set the following properties for the activity:

    Option Description
Name Enter a meaningful name in the field. This name displays in the Activity list page, and identifies the activity.
Description Enter a meaningful description in the field. This description displays in the Activity list page, and should explain what the activity is intended to do. This description helps users understand the activity at a glance without having to open the editor.
Priority Optionally, assign the recommendation a priority using this list. The priority can be assigned using a number between zero and one thousand. The higher the number, the higher the priority. When multiple activities are scheduled for the same e-Marketing Spot, they are evaluated in priority sequence.
Start Date Define a start date and time for the activity. You can either enter a date in the field, or select a date using the calendar tool. Similarly, you can enter a time directly into the field, or you can select one using the clock tool. If you do not specify a start date, the activity will be applicable once it is activated.
End Date Define an end date and time for the activity. You can either enter a date in the field, or select a date using the calendar tool. Similarly, you can enter a time directly into the field, or you can select one using the clock tool. If you do not specify an end date, the activity will run indefinitely.
Repeatable Specify whether or not the activity is repeatable. A repeatable activity allows the activity rules to be evaluated for a customer more than once. This means that a customer who views an e-Marketing Spot multiple times may have content displayed each time. This behavior is generally desirable for Web activities.
Campaign Select the campaign to which this activity belongs. You can either enter the name of the campaign, or click the search icon to open the utility pane, and then search or browse for the appropriate campaign.

If you are using the extended sites model, and are currently in the extended site store, you can select a campaign from either the asset store or the extended site store. You can see if a campaign belongs to the asset store by the small blue arrow added to the campaign icon

, or by looking at the Store column in the list view. If you are logged in to an asset store, the campaign can only come from the asset store.

  5. Select the e-Marketing Spot in which to display the content.

    1. Click the e-Marketing Spot element in the builder. The e-Marketing Spot viewed properties dialog displays.

    2. Select one or more e-Marketing Spots in which to display the content. You can either enter the name of the content and click

Find and Add, or click the

Show utilities view icon to open the utilities view, and then search or browse for the appropriate content.

If you are using the extended sites model, and logged in to an extended site, the e-Marketing Spot can come from either the asset store or the extended site store. If there is an e-Marketing Spot in both the asset store and the extended store with the same name, the content is assigned to display in the extended store. If content was already scheduled to display in the asset store version of the e-Marketing Spot, this is superseded by the assignment of content to display in the extended store.

If you are logged in to an asset store, the e-Marketing Spot can only come from the asset store. When you select an e-Marketing Spot, the content is effectively scheduled to display in that e-Marketing Spot for any qualified customer. It displays the next time that the e-Marketing Spot is rendered, and each subsequent time until some other activity with a higher priority is scheduled for the same e-Marketing Spot, or the marketing activity expires.
