Process: Consumer direct extended sites
Flow
Objective
The Consumer direct extended sites solution is targeted for a selling organization that needs to provide unique storefronts for different geographies, or showcase a number of branded storefronts.
Description
Creation and management of the Consumer direct extended sites is done via the extended sites hub (known in WebSphere Commerce as a hub store). This hub provides tools that allow the seller to create and administer a store, as well as tools that allow the extended sites hub administrator to manage all stores. These stores may share much of the data, such as master catalog and list prices, presentation information, and even some campaigns data.
Extended sites may be created for each brand or geography depending on the seller's product strategy. Each extended site has the ability to determine the products that will be sold in the storefront as well as set their prices. Also, each extended site can setup different taxes rules, make the site look different, etc.
NOTE: This solution shares some admin processes from the Hosting business model.
