Messaging engine policy maintenance [Collection]

This pane shows all the messaging engine policies for this cluster and their current settings, that is, the settings that determine messaging engine behavior. This list of policies comprises all the core group policies associated with the messaging engines in the cluster. If required, we can make a messaging engine policy conform to the currently selected messaging engine policy assistance type. We can also access the associated core group policy settings, although we should not change these settings unless we already have experience of doing so.

To view this page in the console, click the following path:

Service integration -> Buses -> bus_name -> [Topology] Bus members -> bus_member_name -> [Additional Properties] Messaging engine policy maintenance.

To act on one or more of the listed items, select the check boxes next to the names of the items to act on, then use the button provided.

To change which entries are listed, or to change the level of detail displayed for those entries, use the Filter settings.

Name

The name of the messaging engine policy (core group policy associated with a messaging engine in the current cluster). Select this name to view or change the core group policy settings, although we should not change these settings unless we already have experience of doing so.

Failover?

Specify whether the messaging engine associated with this policy can fail over to another server. Values can be Yes or No.

Fail back?

Specify whether the messaging engine associated with this policy can fail back to a more preferred server. Values can be Yes or No.

Preferred order of servers to run on

The list of preferred servers for the messaging engine associated with this policy to run on. The list is in the order of preference.

Only run on preferred servers?

Specify whether the messaging engine associated with this policy can run only on the servers in the list of preferred servers, or can run on any server available in the cluster. Values can be Yes or No.

For example, if there is one server in the list of preferred servers and this value is Yes, the messaging engine is considered to be 'pinned' to that server; it cannot fail over to any other server. If there are two servers in the list of preferred servers and this value is No, the messaging engine can fail over to the servers in the list, in the order specified, and then to any other server available in the cluster.

Details

Details of the messaging engine configuration. Either the message confirms that the core group policy, and therefore the messaging engine policy, is correct for the currently selected messaging engine policy assistance type, or the message suggests actions to change the messaging engine configuration. If the suggested action is to correct a core group policy, we can use the Correct messaging engine policy option. When the messaging engine policy assistance type is Custom, these details do not apply.

Status

A green tick in a circle indicates that the messaging engine configuration is correct for the currently selected messaging engine policy assistance type. Otherwise, a warning triangle is displayed. When the messaging engine policy assistance type is Custom, this status does not apply.

Buttons

Button Description
Correct messaging engine policy Change the settings of the selected messaging engine policies so that they are correct for the currently selected messaging engine policy assistance type. The Details and Status fields indicate whether we have to use this button. All the required settings are automatically changed and the fields on this panel are updated. This button is available for all messaging engine policy assistance types except Custom.
Create missing messaging engine policies This button is available only when there is a messaging engine in the cluster that is not associated with any messaging engine policy. Use this button to create a messaging engine policy and associate it with the messaging engine. A messaging engine policy is created with the correct settings for the currently selected messaging engine policy assistance type, except when that type is Custom. For a Custom messaging engine policy type, a wizard is started used to configure messaging engine policy as you require.
