Virtual member manager unique name

Virtual member manager provides another unique identifier called uniqueName.

Virtual member manager uniqueName is a result of the virtual member manager hierarchy. It is unique, but not static and can be changed. It is, however, more readable and human friendly than the uniqueId.

Because the uniqueName can change, a danger exists that if a uniqueName is retained by an application and subsequently used by the application in a request to virtual member manager, the uniqueName might retrieve an unexpected entity or the entity might not be found.

Because the uniqueName is similar to an LDAP Distinguished Name (DN), the concept of an Relative Distinguished Name (RDN) also applies. The RDN property name in a uniqueName is configurable per entity type. If multiple LDAP directories are configured under virtual member manager and they use different RDN attribute names in their LDAP DNs, virtual member manager provides support for translating between the RDN in the uniqueName and the RDN in the LDAP DN. This enables the customer to configure a uniform RDN attribute at the virtual member manager level. However, this uniform RDN attribute at the virtual member manager level is not mandatory because the virtual member manager also supports different RDN attributes for the same entity type in different realms.
