Other system and real-life identifiers

An entity in a repository might have additional identifiers.

An entity in a repository might have other identifiers such as system generated ones like a primary key (if the repository is a database), or an LDAP DN (if the repository is an LDAP directory). Such system identifiers can be either exposed as externalId and externalName in the virtual member manager Identifier object, or exposed as other properties on the entity.

The entity might also have other meaningful identifiers such as an employee ID, social security number, driver’s license number. If the entity is an organization, a Data Universal Numbering System (DUNS) number and so forth. All such identifiers are treated by virtual member manager as additional properties for the entity and can be accessed by an application.
