Install Tivoli Directory Server

For Windows and UNIX, WebSphere Portal only includes the ISMP version of the Tivoli Directory Server installation program. If you have a previous version of Tivoli Directory Server, you might need the UnixNativeInstaller to migrate to the current version. Follow the instructions for installing Tivoli Directory Server using the ISMP installation program.

For installation instructions, refer to the Tivoli Directory Server library

Verify Tivoli Directory Server LDAP

We can use the ldapsearch command from the command line on the LDAP server to verify that Tivoli Directory Server is installed and working correctly.

ldapsearch -h <hostname> -s base objectclass=*

If Tivoli Directory Server has not been installed correctly, you will receive the error "Could not connect to LDAP server."

i5/OS:

Directory Services (LDAP) is automatically installed when you install OS/400. The directory server includes a default configuration that automatically starts the directory server when TCP/IP is started. The directory server also starts publishing computer information from OS/400 to the directory server. To customize the LDAP directory servers settings, run the Directory Services Configuration Wizard. You must have *ALLOBJ and *IOSYSCFG special authorities in order to use the wizard.

See the Tivoli Directory Server documentation in the iSeries information center for more information.
