After setting security with LDAP, use this information to verify that the LDAP server for WebSphere Portal has been properly configured.

You are here

  1. LDAP user registry
  2. Installing LDAP
  3. Setting up LDAP
  4. Configuring LDAP for non-realm support
  5. Configuring LDAP for realm support
  6. Additional LDAP configuration
  7. Verifying LDAP (Current task)

For Tivoli Directory Server, Domino Directory, Novell eDirectory, and Sun Java System Directory Server:

  1. Go to WebSphere Portal and create a new user by clicking Sign-up.

  2. Log in to WebSphere Portal as the user you have just created.

If the login is successful, the LDAP server should be working correctly. The content resulting from logon may vary according to user role. If you do not receive an error message, we can assume that the LDAP server is functioning properly. For Active Directory: You should be able to create users through WebSphere Portal, but it is not possible to set passwords for new users. You will need to log on using an existing or default administrator userid and password. If login is successful, Active Directory should be correctly set up.

If you have configured security while configured to use a database other than Cloudscape, do not rerun the database-transfer task. This task will not transfer the data inserted during the enable-security task, and will cause the Portal to become inoperable. To recover from this situation, you would have to disable security and enable security again.
