Active Directory Application Mode and Active Directory Application Mode should be installed and configured before you install WebSphere Portal .

Active Directory Application Mode can be applied on the Windows 2000 or 2003 Server operating system.

Install Active Directory Application Mode per the information available at Windows Server 2003 Active Directory Application Mode. Active Directory Application Mode can be downloaded from Active Directory Application Mode.

By default, Active Directory Application Mode requires an enabled SSL to set and update user passwords. If you do not want to enable SSL, go to Active Directory Application Mode Frequently Asked Questions and click How do I enable password changes on an unencrypted connection to ADAM.
