Preparing the system on AIX
On AIX systems, you might have to complete several tasks before you install IBM MQ . You might also want to complete other tasks, depending on your installation intentions.

The tasks that you perform to prepare the systems for installation are listed here. Complete the appropriate tasks for the platform before installing.
Procedure
- Set up a user ID of the name mqm, with a primary group of mqm. See Set up the user and group on AIX.
- Create file systems for both the product code and working data to be stored. See Create file systems on AIX.
- Configure any additional settings needed for the AIX system. See Configure and tuning the operating system on AIX.

- Set up the user and group on AIX
On AIX systems, IBM MQ requires a user ID of the name mqm, with a primary group of mqm. The mqm user ID owns the directories and files that contain the resources associated with the product.- Create file systems on AIX
Before installing IBM MQ, you might need to create file systems for both the product code and working data to be stored. There are minimum storage requirements for these file systems.
