Overview

If you plan to use multiple application server instances to host Lotus Connections features, create them later with the Lotus Connections installation wizard. Do not create them manually. Similarly, if you plan to use WAS profiles to manage the multiple server instances, use the Profiles Management Tool in WAS ND.

If you are using the Files or Wikis features, configure IBM HTTP Server to handle file downloads from those features.

For Advanced stand-alone, if you install the News feature, you need to manually configure the buses between the News and other features.

Install and configure WAS ND

  1. Review system requirements

  2. Pre-installation tasks

  3. Install WAS ND as a one-node cluster

For the first node, node must be unmanaged before you install WAS.

Do not enable Administrative Security when the installation wizard requests it. Enable security after configuring WAS to communicate with the LDAP

  4. To avoid out-of-memory errors, increase the size of the JVM heap on the dmgr to at least 512 MB.

  5. Configure WAS ND security

Configure security on the dmgr only.

  6. Apply available fix packs.

If you choose to let the WAS redirect servlet manage file downloading, configure the server to transfer data synchronously instead of asynchronously. This configuration helps avoid errors caused by using too much memory.
