IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for Application Diagnostics, Version 7.1.0.1

Uninstall the Managing Server

It is generally recommended that you uninstall data collectors before you uninstall the Managing Server so that the uninstallation program can delete data collector registration information from the Managing Server.

See the chapters for uninstalling data collectors in one of the following publications:

To uninstall the Managing Server:

  1. Log on to the computer as the installation user (for example, amuser). This is the user you used to perform the installation, which you created in Create the installation user.

  2. If it is not already stopped, stop the Managing Server. See Stop the Managing Server.

  3. If the server instance of WAS that is being used by the Managing Server is stopped, start the WAS.

  4. Back up files from the Managing Server, embedded IBM DB2, and embedded WAS installations that you still need.

  5. Run the uninstallation program using one of the following options:

    1. Click Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add Remove Program > ITCAM for Application DiagnosticsITCAM for Application Diagnostics Managing ServerManaging Server 7.1. Click Remove to launch the uninstallation program.

    2. Execute the following command: MS_home\_uninst\uninstaller.exe. On Windows 2008 Server and Windows 7 use "Run As Administrator" to execute this command.

    The Welcome panel is displayed.

  6. Click Next. The Choose Features to Uninstall panel is displayed.

  7. Select the features and click Next. The WAS Unconfiguration panel is displayed.

  8. Verify the discovered information in this panel. Select or enter the correct information if it is not correct:

    WAS information entered during installation

    Field What to do
Host Name Type the fully qualified host name of the WAS where the Managing Server was running.

If using Network Deployment, provide the host name of the deployment manager instead.

    SOAP Connector Port

Enter the SOAP port setting (Default 8880). This connector port was used by the WAS to send commands using the SOAP.

The SOAP port is identified in the AppServer_home\profiles\profile_name\config/cells\cell_name\nodes\node_name\serverindex.xml file of the instance of WAS that the Managing Server was using.

If using Network Deployment, provide the SOAP port of the deployment manager instead.

    User Name

Type the name of the user running IBM WebSphere. This is the user you use to log into the WAS administrative console for the instance of WAS being used by the Managing Server.

    Password

    Type the user password.

  9. Click Next. The Choose Embedded Components to Uninstall panel is displayed.

  10. To uninstall embedded versions of WAS and IBM DB2, select Embedded WAS Uninstallation, Embedded DB2 Uninstallation, or both, and click Next. Note when you choose both of these options, then you will need to manually delete the Managing Server installation folder and some sub folders after the uninstallation completes. The Review Uninstallation Information panel is displayed.

  11. Verify the information in this panel and click Uninstall to continue the uninstallation. The Uninstall panel is displayed.

  12. When the uninstall is complete, the Review Uninstallation Summary panel is displayed.

  13. Click Next. The Reboot Computer panel is displayed. Select Yes, restart my computer or No, I will restart my computer at a later time, then click Finish.

  14. If you selected No, I will restart my computer at a later time, and if you chose not to uninstall WAS, stop the instance of WAS that was being used by the Managing Server and delete the MS_home directory and any subdirectories.

  15. If you choose not to remove DB2, complete one of the following steps:

    1. Delete the files and subdirectories under MS_home, but leave AppServer_home and DB2_home intact.

    2. Manually uninstall IBM DB2 and WAS (See Manual uninstallation of WAS and Manual uninstallation of IBM DB2), then delete the MS_home directory and any subdirectories.

  16. If you need to keep any of the Managing Server installation log files in the C:\IBM\tivoli\common\CYN\logs directory, back them up. This is a list of installation log files for the Managing Server:

    1. msg-install.log

    2. trace-install.log

The log file names might include numeric affixes.

  17. Delete the installation log files in the C:\IBM\tivoli\common\CYN\logs directory.
