Manage security in IBM Integration Designer
In IBM Integration Designer, server administrative security and application security are automatically enabled for all test environment servers that were automatically created when the test environment was installed. If you choose, you can use the default security configuration to work with server security "out of the box" without making significant changes to the configuration in either IBM Integration Designer or the server administrative console. A new Security preferences page enables you to modify the server administrative security settings in all of your current and future workspaces to match the server administrative security settings that have been specified in the server administrative console.
The following topics describe the key concepts in managing server security and explain how to use the Security preferences page:
- Security in IBM Integration Designer
IBM Integration Designer features numerous improvements to the test environment security. For example, configuration enhancements to server security enable you to immediately publish and test applications on test environment servers "out of the box" with security enabled. As long as you continue to use the default security settings, there is little or no need to manually configure security in either IBM Integration Designer or the server administrative console.
- Enabling or disabling workbench-scoped security configuration
Administrative security is enabled by default for all test environment servers that were created as a result of installing the test environment. And by default, workbench-scoped security configuration is enabled. This means that when you modify a server configuration in the Window > Preferences > Server > Security page to reflect any changes that you have made to the administrative security settings in the server administrative console, the server configuration is modified in both your current workspace and in all other existing and future workspaces. However, if necessary, you can disable workbench-scoped security configuration, which allows you to use the server configuration editor to modify a server configuration and restricts your modifications to only the current workspace.- Enabling or disabling administrative security
If you chose to install the test environment when installed IBM Integration Designer, then administrative security is enabled by default for all test environment servers that were created as a result of the installation. You can easily disable administrative security for a server or enable it again using the server administrative console, but you must ensure that your changes to the administrative security settings of the server in the administrative console are also specified in the corresponding IBM Integration Designer server configuration.
- Changing an administrative security user ID or password
In IBM Integration Designer, the default administrative security user ID and password is admin unless you chose to change the default user ID and password when you used IBM Installation Manager to install IBM Integration Designer. It is generally recommended that you change the default user ID and password to better secure your test environment servers and business integration applications.
