Create attribute changes

Before you begin

An attribute change detects any type of change in a configuration attribute and sends a notification to the SNMP agent's configured trap destinations.

Note: Attribute changes cannot monitor runtime MBeans.

To create and configure an attribute change:

  1. If you have not already done so, in the Change Center of the Administration Console, click Lock & Edit (see Use the Change Center).

  2. In the Administration Console, under Domain Structure, expand Diagnostics and select SNMP.

  3. On the Summary of SNMP Agents page, in the Server SNMP Agents table, click the name of an SNMP agent.

  4. On the SNMP Agent: Configuration: General page, click the Attribute Changes sub-tab.

  5. On the SNMP Attribute Changes page, click New.

Note: Once you create an attribute change, you cannot rename it. Instead, delete it and create another one that uses the new name.

  6. On the Create a New SNMP Attribute Change page, in the Name field, enter a name to identify the attribute change.

  7. In the MBean Type list, select an MBean type and click Next.

For a description of WebLogic Server MBean types and attributes, see the WebLogic Server MBean Reference.

  8. In the Attribute Name list, select an MBean attribute and click Finish.

  9. To monitor only a specific instance of the MBean type that you selected:

    1. On the SNMP Attribute Changes page, click the new attribute change name.

    2. On the SNMP Attribute Changes: Configuration page, in the Monitored MBean Name list, select an MBean instance. See Specify MBean instance names.

    3. Click Save.

If you do not select an instance name, the attribute change observes all MBean instances of the type that you specified in Step 6.

  10. To activate these changes, in the Change Center of the Administration Console, click Activate Changes.
Not all changes take effect immediately—some require a restart (see Use the Change Center).

After you finish
