Within the workbench, symptom databases exist in the XMI format. Exporting the database saves it in XML format, which is more readable.

Follow these steps to export a symptom database:

1. From the Resource perspective, in the Navigator view, select the required database.  It must have been imported and must have the .trcdbxmi extension.

2. Right click, then select Export. The Export wizard opens.

3. Select Export Symptom Database from the list and click Next.

4. The field, Select resource to export, displays the path and file name of the database you selected.

5. Specify the destination directory and file name.

6. Select whether the XML format should be compatible with WebSphere Application Server Version 5.x or WebSphere Application Server Version 4.x

7. If appropriate, select Overwrite existing files without warning.

8. Click Finish.  The specified symptom database is exported as specified.
