Changing the update sites preference
By default, the Rational Product Updater tool uses a URL that is embedded in each installed Rational software development product to connect to an IBM update server through the Internet and search for product updates and optional new features. Your organization may require you to redirect the updater tool to use intranet sites.
This and other update policy setting are provided to the Product Updater tool through an update policy file. You must therefore provide an update policy file to theRational Product Updater in order to change the update sites. Ideally, your local update site administrator would provide you with a URL for a location on your intranet where the policy file has been made available to all users. The policy file can also be stored on your system. (see Update policy control and policy files for more information.)
To change the update sites:
- Obtain the URL where policy file is located or store the policy file on your system.
- Launch the Product Updater by clicking Start > Programs > IBM Rational > Rational Product Updater.
- Click Preferences > Update Sites.
- Enter either the URL or the path and file name (it will be an .xml file) of the update policy file and click OK.
