Adding forms to Web pages

Forms are a familiar method for collecting data from users in a structured way. In the Design page of Page Designer, you can see the spatial and style-related attributes as you construct the form. To simplify form layout, you might want to incorporate an HTML table or a free layout table.

If you want the form to contain the table, ensure that you create the form first and then add the table within it. If you are using Faces technology to create dynamic forms, refer to Dynamic data using Faces components.

Most activities related to creating and editing forms are available from the Insert > Form and Input Fields. To create a form, place the cursor where you want to position the form and select Insert > Form and Input Fields > Form.

After determining a layout scheme for your form elements, you can use the options in Insert > Form and Input Fields to insert the following fields and controls:

• Submit, Reset, Image, General, and Extended buttons

• Radio button

• Check box

• Text area

• Text field

• File Selection field

• List box

• Drop-Down menu

• Group box

As you add form elements, the dialog box for some objects will open so that you can supply format, style, and content details. You can configure the form controls in the Properties view and configure events for the controls in the Quick Edit view.
