Enabling security when installing

During the installation of the Agent Controller, you can choose to enable the communications security protocol.  By enabling the security, you ensure that communication to the Agent Controller will be encrypted, and that all connections will be forced to authenticate using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology. The SSL security protocol ensures elements such as data encryption, authentication, and authorization.

To enable the communications security protocol during the installation process, follow these steps:

  1. From the Agent Controller InstallShield Wizard, click on Enable Security (Recommended for Production Systems).  Click the Next button:

    2.  The Secure User Access window opens.  Enter the usernames that should be granted access to the Agent Controller. Click on the Next button when finished.

    3.  The Host List window opens.  Choose the hosts that will be able to access the Agent Controller.  Click on the Next button when finished.

After you have enabled (or disabled) the security, you can continue with the installation process.

Note: Enabling the security is recommended.  If, during the installation process, you chose to disable the security, communication to the Agent Controller would not be encrypted and access control would be limited to the defined host list.
