How Producer and Consumer portals communicate
The WSRP standard defines the communication interfaces between the Producer portal and the Consumer portal. The Consumer portal requires information about a WSRP Producer in order to configure communication before consuming WSRP services:
- The WSDL document:
- Describes WSRP services the Producer provides.
- Defines WSRP interfaces the Producer uses.
- Provides technical information, such as the service endpoint addresses.
- The configuration of the Producer portal, including the security configuration for WSRP services.
After receiving the required information from the Producer, the Consumer configures the Consumer portal accordingly before consuming the WSRP services as remote portlets.
For example, if the Producer portal provides security for WSRP, the Consumer portal must have the same security setup for WSRP.
Depending on the overall WSRP setup, the Consumer might in turn provide information to the Producer.
