Live repository

WebSphere Portal is available for downloading and installing directly from a live repository. All you need is Installation Manager and select the portal repository from the list.

After you enter the credentials in Installation Manager we are able to see the software repositories we are entitled to download and install. This option is ideal when performing installations at a large scale.

To enter the credentials in Installation Manager navigate through File > Preferences > Passport Advantage. Select the Connect to Passport Advantage check box and enter your credentials.

Benefits:

• Automation is possible through silent installation scripts.

• There is no need to duplicate the installation media throughout the network.

Limitations:

• Network speeds might impact the installation speed.

• Installation Manager must be installed on each system before installing WebSphere Portal.
