Configure Portal v8
Overview
This section discusses global configuration of portal. For setup tasks with non-global scope, see: Administering. Before using these configuration tasks, transfer your database.
ConfigEngine uses wkplc.properties for inputs before executing tasks. Note that wkplc.properties is not read during portal appserver startup, only by ConfigEngine during configuration changes. The contents of wkplc.properties do not necessarily correspond to the values instantiated by portal. To obtain actual portal configuration settings, check the WAS admin console, or generate reports using wsadmin.
We can run ConfigEngine tasks from...
- A read-only ConfigEngine directory for managing multiple profiles from one location
- From each individual WP_PROFILE/ConfigEngine
z/OS considerations
If you have installed WebSphere Portal for IBM z/OS, we use the Customization Dialog that provides the series of ISPF panels to configure the portal. However, some of the portal configuration tasks do not have ISPF panels. For tasks that do not have ISPF panels, you need to follow the general instructions provided for two alternatives to ISPF panels:
- Create a Job Control Language (JCL) script to run
- Open a UNIX System Services (USS) command prompt or use a Telnet client to connect to the portal server and run
