Support multiple profiles
When installing WebSphere Portal, a default configuration profile is created (wp_profile). You can now create and maintain multiple profiles to create multiple independent portal instances, create new profiles and delete the old to recover from configuration problems, create custom profiles to expand cluster's capacity, or update a Deployment Manager profile to handle portal servers without manual preparation steps. To support multiple profiles first prepare system, create or augment profiles, run configuration tasks on the profiles, and then maintain the profiles if you install maintenance packages. You may also need to update the configuration archive or delete a profile that is no longer required.
Before creating new profiles, delete any existing search collections.
Choose the appropriate OS to create and maintain multiple profiles:
Release data cannot be shared between multiple profiles. Each profile must have its own database for Release.
Restriction: This feature does not apply to Express editions or Enable edition when installed on z/OSĀ®.
