Set up awareness and chat for iNotes
You integrate LotusSametimein the iNotes portlet so that users can send and receive instant messages, maintain an instant contacts list, and make the names of people in mail messages, views and folders online-aware. This awareness configuration requires single sign-on on all involved servers. For more information, see the topic on configuring single sign-on between WebSphere Portal and Lotus Domino®.
In iNotes, the IBMLotus Sametime integration features rely on the ability of the browser to communicate directly with the Lotus Sametime server. This means that the fully-qualified Internet host name of the Lotus Sametime server must be resolvable from the browser (for example, the fully qualified Internet host name for a Lotus Domino server named Sametime/Acme might be sametime.acme.com). Therefore, either DNS must be able to resolve this address, or it must be resolved to the proper IP address by some other mechanism (such as by editing the local OS's hosts file).
Follow all the task instructions in the following links to set up awareness and chat for iNotes:
1. Specify the mail template for iNotes
On the IBM Lotus Domino messaging/application server, specify the fully qualified server name in the IBM Lotus Domino Directory Server document, and specify the database design template that is compatible with iNotes.
2. Verify that Sametime works with iNotes
Log in to the Sametime server to verify that Sametime is working properly, and then into the iNotes portlet to enable the instant messaging feature.
